The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter, Comr. Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, has commended the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his visionary leadership and sustained commitment to youth inclusion in governance.
The commendation was made at the Osun Youth in Governance Conference, a strategic platform convened to foster dialogue, engagement, and collaboration between young people and key stakeholders in governance across the state. Speaking at the conference, the NYCN Chairman, alongside the Council’s Spokesperson, highlighted the deliberate efforts of the Adeleke-led administration in creating opportunities for youth participation in leadership, policymaking, and public service.
Akinbode noted that the current administration has continued to demonstrate a progressive and inclusive governance style by recognizing young people as critical stakeholders in the socio-political and economic development of Osun State. He emphasized that the growing visibility of youth in governance structures is a reflection of a responsive government that values innovation, energy, and the potential of its younger population.
According to him, “The inclusion of young people in governance is not only a necessity but a strategic investment in the future of our state. Governor Ademola Adeleke has shown commendable leadership by creating an enabling environment for youth participation, and contribution to decision-making processes.”
He further stated that the administration’s openness to youth-driven ideas and initiatives has significantly strengthened the confidence of young people in governance, while also encouraging a new generation of responsible and visionary leaders.
The NYCN Chairman also appreciated the Governor’s consistent support for youth-centered programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and platforms that promote civic engagement and leadership development. He described such efforts as pivotal to building a sustainable, inclusive, and people-oriented governance system.
Reaffirming the commitment of the Council, Akinbode assured that the NYCN Osun State Chapter will continue to support policies, programmes, and initiatives that advance youth development, good governance, and active citizenship. He also encouraged young people across the state to take advantage of the opportunities provided to contribute meaningfully to governance and societal transformation.
The Osun Youth in Governance Conference brought together policymakers, traditional leaders, development partners, youth organizations, and young leaders from across the state. The conference featured panel sessions, keynote addresses, and interactive engagements focused on strengthening youth participation in governance, promoting accountability, and fostering inclusive leadership.
The event marks another significant step in the ongoing efforts to institutionalize youth inclusion and build a governance system that reflects the aspirations and contributions of all segments of society.
