YOUTH IN GOVERNANCE CONFERENCE: INEC, POLICE, TRADITIONAL RULERS, OTHER STAKEHOLDERS COMMEND OSUN NYCN FOR TIMELY, IMPACTFUL INITIATIVE

The Osun State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has received widespread commendation from key stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigeria Police Force, traditional rulers, and other institutions, following the successful hosting of the Osun Youth in Governance Conference.
The event, which drew participation from policymakers, youth leaders, security agencies, and traditional institutions across the state, was widely described as timely and impactful, providing a strategic platform for dialogue on youth inclusion in governance.

Representatives of INEC at the conference emphasized that the initiative is a step in the right direction toward strengthening democratic participation among young people. They highlighted the importance of sustained voter education, civic responsibility, and active youth engagement in the electoral process.
Officials of the Nigeria Police Force, The deputy Police public Relations officer also praised the NYCN for fostering constructive engagement between youth and security agencies. According to them, such platforms are essential in promoting peacebuilding, strengthening trust, and enhancing security awareness within communities.

Traditional rulers present at the event, Elerinmo, Owaloko and Owa of Igbajo commended the initiative, noting that it promotes responsible leadership, cultural values, and community development. They encouraged young people to remain disciplined and actively involved in governance processes.

Other stakeholders described the conference as a forward-thinking and impactful initiative that created opportunities for mentorship, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among young leaders and key actors in governance.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of NYCN Osun State Chapter, Comr. Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their support and participation. He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to sustaining initiatives that empower young people and promote inclusive governance.

The Osun Youth in Governance Conference featured keynote addresses, paper presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions focused on youth participation in governance, peacebuilding, and collaborative leadership.

The NYCN Osun State Chapter continues to position itself as a driving force in advancing youth-focused initiatives and strengthening the role of young people in governance and nation-building across Osun State.
