In a significant gathering, the Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) convened in Port Harcourt to address pressing national issues related to youth development. The meeting, attended by chairmen from nearly all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), provided a critical platform for discussing the involvement of NYCN leadership in the national confab and the need for effective representation at the state ministries responsible for youth affairs.
The forum emphasized the importance of regular meetings to foster progress and partnership among its members. The Chairman from Oyo State who doubled as the chairman of chairmen encouraged all chairmen to actively engage in programs and projects that promote youth development, reinforcing the collective goal of empowering the younger generation across the nation.
The discussions also highlighted the upcoming National Sports Festival in Ogun State, calling on all sports ministries to ensure collaboration with the NYCN chairmen for better youth representation and involvement.
Port Harcourt
Osun State Chairman, Akinbode Olakolupo, was formally introduced and adopted by the forum during his first meeting. In a show of unity and support, the forum passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of President Sukubo Sara-Igbe.
The Osun State Chairman took the opportunity to express gratitude to the Governor of Osun State, governor Ademola Adeleke and the Commissioner for Youth Affairs for their continued support.
Furthermore, new executive positions such as Secretary and Public Relations Officer were filled during the meeting, strengthening the forum's operational structure. Attendees included representatives from the Federal Ministry, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigerian Police, underscoring the collaborative effort in addressing youth development challenges.
This assembly marks a pivotal step in consolidating efforts to foster youth empowerment and ensure meaningful engagement in national development initiatives.
