Reaffirms Commitment to Educational Support and Youth Development
The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter, *Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun Omoakin*, has called on Ijesa youths and students to be torchbearers of peace, unity, and cultural preservation. This charge was delivered during his keynote address at the 2025 Obokun Students’ Union Cultural Day, held at the Obokun Town Hall, Ibokun.
In his remarks at the vibrant celebration of Ijesa cultural heritage, Comrade Akinbode highlighted the critical role of young people in fostering societal harmony and sustaining cultural values He noted that the essence of culture goes beyond tradition—it is the foundation of identity and a unifying force that binds generations. He urged the youth to remain rooted in the values of respect, hard work, and community spirit that the Ijesa people are known for.
The event drew the presence of respected dignitaries such as Senator Francis Fadahunsi, represented by Mrs. Arike Kolawole (YeyeOge), Hon. Adekusibe, CEO of Akol Pharmacy, and Hon. Babaniyi, among others. These leaders applauded the efforts of the students and emphasized the importance of platforms that promote cultural awareness and youth engagement.
Comrade Akinbode, in his address to the students and traditional stakeholders, reiterated that preserving cultural values is not just a duty—it is a legacy that must be consciously passed on. He encouraged the young generation to take pride in their identity and work collaboratively to build a peaceful and culturally rich society.
As a demonstration of his commitment to youth and educational development, the NYCN Chairman pledged to support the Obokun Students’ Union with educational materials. He assured the union of continued partnership in initiatives that promote learning, personal growth, and leadership among Ijesa youth.
