⚪Promised continuous support to educational initiatives
The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter, *Comr Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun Omoakin*, has charged Ijesa youths and students to remain ambassadors of peace, unity, and cultural preservation. He made this known during his address at the 2025 Obokun Students’ Union Cultural Day held in Obokun Town hall, Ibokun, where he served as a guest of honour.
While speaking at the colourful celebration of Ijesa heritage, Comr Akinbode emphasized the importance of youth in promoting peaceful coexistence, sustaining unity among ethnic groups, and upholding the rich cultural values the Ijesa people are known for. He described culture as the bedrock of identity and encouraged the young generation not to lose touch with the values that define them.
The event was well attended by notable dignitaries, including Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who was ably represented by Mrs. Arike Kolawole (YeyeOge), Hon. Adekusibe, the CEO of Akol Pharmacy, and Hon. Babaniyi, among others. These leaders lauded the students for organizing such an impactful cultural event and echoed the Chairman’s call for unity and cultural preservation.
In his address to both students and community leaders, the NYCN Chairman reiterated that culture plays a critical role in shaping values, morals, and the general well-being of society. He urged the youth to remain proud of their heritage and to ensure that the legacy of Ijesa culture is passed down to future generations with pride and integrity.
As part of his contribution to youth and student development, Comrade Akinbode promised to support the initiatives of the Obokun Students’ Union with educational materials to boost academic excellence and encourage continuous learning among students.
