OSUN NYCN CHAIRMAN CHARGES YOUTHS ON PEACE, UNITY, AND RESPONSIBLE CONDUCT AS NEW MONTH BEGINS

The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter, Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, has extended warm greetings to youths and leaders across Osun State on the commencement of the month of April, while calling for sustained peace, unity, vigilance, and responsible engagement among young people.
In his New Month message, the Chairman emphasized the need for youths to remain committed to peaceful coexistence, especially as the state gradually approaches the campaign season. He stressed that no political ambition, interest, or electoral process is worth the loss of lives, urging young people to reject all forms of violence, thuggery, and actions capable of disrupting the peace and stability of the state.

Comrade Akinbode further cautioned against the growing trend of divisive rhetoric and unhealthy political tensions, noting that such tendencies only create unnecessary conflict and setbacks for societal progress. He called on all youths to rise above sentiments that divide—be it political, ethnic, or religious—and instead embrace unity, tolerance, and mutual respect as the foundation for sustainable development.

He also urged youths to remain vigilant and security-conscious in their communities, encouraging them to be responsible citizens who promote peace and report activities that may threaten public safety. According to him, vigilance and proactive engagement are critical in safeguarding lives and maintaining order during sensitive periods.

The NYCN Chairman further encouraged young people to adopt a progressive mindset, remain focused on their goals, and channel their energy into productive ventures such as education, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and civic participation. He stressed that the future of Osun State lies in the hands of its youth, and as such, they must be deliberate, disciplined, and committed to personal and collective growth.

In addition, he urged youths to speak up against violence, resist manipulation, and remain steadfast in promoting harmony and unity at all levels. He reiterated that true leadership is demonstrated through responsibility, integrity, and the ability to build rather than destroy.

While appreciating the role of leaders and stakeholders in advancing youth development across the state, Comrade Akinbode commended their continued support and sacrifices. He encouraged them to sustain efforts toward inclusive governance, mentorship, and the creation of opportunities that will empower the younger generation.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the NYCN Osun State Chapter to fostering a peaceful, united, and progressive youth constituency, assuring that the Council will continue to champion initiatives that promote development, engagement, and responsible leadership among youths.

The Chairman concluded by calling on all youths and leaders to remain dedicated to shared goals and a common vision for a peaceful and prosperous Osun State, wishing everyone a productive, impactful, and fulfilling month of April.
