The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, and Hon. Olalekan Moshood Olagunju, Commissioner for Youth Affairs, for approving a one-week leadership training for youth leaders across the state. The program will hold at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Lagos, and is scheduled to take place in November.
Speaking today at the secretariat, the State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, described the approval as a major milestone in youth development, noting that it demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to empowering young leaders and preparing them for meaningful roles in governance, entrepreneurship, and community development.
“Governor Adeleke has consistently shown that youth are central to his administration’s vision for progress and inclusion. This training is another clear example of his administration’s belief in the potential of young people to lead, innovate, and make lasting impact,” Comrade Akinbode said.
He further commended Hon. Olalekan Olagunju, highlighting his proactive approach in ensuring that youth programs are not just planned, but effectively executed. “The Commissioner’s dedication to creating opportunities for young people across Osun is commendable. His support ensures that youth initiatives translate into tangible results for our state,” he added.
The NYCN Chairman emphasized that the week-long training will equip participants with critical leadership skills, civic awareness, and strategic thinking necessary for effective community and political engagement. He urged all youth leaders and representatives from local government areas to prepare diligently, as the confirmation from the Lagos centre could come at any time.
He also reiterated that the youth council remains committed to supporting the government’s programs and vision, ensuring maximum participation and representation of Osun youth in the training. Comrade Akinbode expressed optimism that the program would strengthen youth structures, foster discipline, and create a generation of empowered leaders ready to contribute to sustainable development across the state.
The Osun NYCN Chairman concluded by reaffirming the council’s gratitude to the Governor and the Commissioner, noting that their continued support and commitment to youth development would leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
