DAY 7: International Youth Day Celebration NYCN Osun State Chapter Visits Osun State CID

As part of activities marking the 2025 International Youth Day celebration, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter, paid a courtesy and solidarity visit to the Osun State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Osogbo on Wednesday, 14th August 2025.
The council was warmly received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, who expressed deep appreciation for the visit and the commendation presented to him, including a framed recognition gift.

In his remarks, CP Gotan commended the youth of Osun State for maintaining peace and steering clear of criminal activities. He described Osun as one of the most peaceful states he has served in across the federation. According to him, while other states battle with high rates of cultism, armed robbery, and kidnapping, Osun remains relatively calm, with minimal cases of such crimes. He noted that the state's major challenges are limited to land disputes and chieftaincy tussles.
The State Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, appreciated the CP for his warm reception and sought the support of the Nigeria Police Force for the upcoming grand event of the International Youth Day celebration on Saturday. He specifically requested the presence of security personnel, which the CP graciously promised to provide. CP Gotan also confirmed his attendance at the event.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman also commended the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for being a diligent and exemplary officer.

The vote of thanks was delivered by the Deputy Chairman, Ambassador Alex Oyeniyi, who thanked the Commissioner for his hospitality and the fatherly manner in which he received the youth delegation. He also officially welcomed CP Gotan to Osun State on behalf of the council.
