The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, has commenced a four-week cosmetology training aimed at equipping young people with practical and sustainable skills that can enhance self-reliance and economic growth across the state.
The training, which started on Tuesday, October 29, 2025, is part of the council’s effort to reduce unemployment and promote youth empowerment through skill acquisition and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the opening Day, the Chairman of NYCN Osun State Chapter, Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, urged participants to be fully dedicated, committed, and take each session seriously. He noted that the initiative was designed to empower young people with profitable skills that can transform their lives and make them contributors to the state’s development.
“Our goal is to raise a generation of productive and self-reliant youths who can create opportunities for themselves and others. Cosmetology is a lucrative field that offers both creativity and financial independence, and we are glad to be providing this platform,” he said.
Comrade Akinbode appreciated the facilitators and stakeholders who supported the council in organizing the training, adding that such partnerships are vital in addressing the challenge of unemployment among young people.
The ongoing training covers areas such as hair styling, makeup artistry, skincare, nail technology, and other aspects of beauty and personal care. Participants will go through intensive practical sessions and will be awarded certificates at the end of the four-week program.
