…Commends Governor Adeleke, set to empower 100 youths in digital and vocational skills

The Osun State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has officially flagged off activities marking the 2025 International Youth Day celebration, with a series of events aimed at engaging, inspiring, and empowering young people across the state.
Speaking at a press conference held at the NYCN Secretariat, Osogbo, on Friday, the State Chairman, Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun Omoakin, expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for his unwavering commitment to youth development.
He also commended the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, and the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Olalekan Moshood Olagunju, for their support, guidance, and dedication to advancing youth causes in the state.
The 2025 International Youth Day, themed “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation through Technology and Partnership,” will feature a nine-day programme from August 8 to August 16. Activities will include interfaith services, a novelty football match, community outreach, environmental sanitation, prison visits, and a major youth conference.
A key highlight is the Youth Empowerment Programme, set to train 100 young people in high-value digital and vocational skills valued between ₦200,000 and ₦250,000 completely free of charge.
The grand finale, scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Osogbo Grammar School Conference Hall, will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, decoration of patrons, and awards of excellence to distinguished personalities who have supported youth development.
Royal patrons to be honoured include Kabiesi Oba Dr. Michael Odunayo Ajayi, Arowotawaya II, the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesa; Kabiesi Oba Dr. Hammed Oyelude Makama, the Olowu of Kuta; Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly; and Chief (Mrs) Modupeola Adeleke-Sanni. Several notable leaders will also receive awards of excellence for their contributions to youth empowerment.
Comrade Akinbode called on government agencies, the private sector, community leaders, and young people to use the occasion as a platform for unity, innovation, and shared responsibility, stressing that “the future of Osun State lies in the hands of its young people.”
