The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, under the able leadership of the State Chairman, Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, strongly condemns the increasing wave of insecurity, killings, kidnappings, and abductions of innocent Nigerians across the country, particularly the recent tragic incident in Oyo State which led to the abduction of several students and teachers.
It is deeply heartbreaking that in the unfortunate incident, a teacher reportedly lost his life while others remain missing as at the time of this report. This ugly development has once again exposed the growing security threat within the Southwest region and the urgent need for decisive actions by relevant authorities.
The NYCN Osun State Chapter expresses serious concern that insecurity, which was once perceived to be limited to certain parts of the country, has now spread dangerously into our region and neighboring states. The incident in Oyo State clearly shows that no place can be considered completely safe anymore if urgent and coordinated security measures are not implemented.
We therefore passionately call on the Executive Governor of Osun State, *His Excellency Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke,* to swiftly take proactive steps towards strengthening security across all border communities and vulnerable areas within the state. The protection of lives and properties of citizens must remain a top priority of government at all levels.
Furthermore, we appeal to all security agencies operating within Osun State to intensify collaboration, intelligence sharing, and coordinated operations in order to prevent any recurrence of such unfortunate incidents in our dear state. Security agencies must work hand in hand to reassure citizens and maintain peace and safety across the state.
The youth constituency in Osun State remains committed to supporting all lawful efforts aimed at combating insecurity and promoting peace, unity, and development in our society.
We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased teacher and pray for the safe rescue and return of all abducted victims.
A secure society is the foundation for sustainable development, and every stakeholder must rise to the responsibility of protecting our communities.
Signed
