As part of the ongoing activities marking the 2025 International Youth Day, the Osun State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria paid a courtesy and thanksgiving visit to the Cherubim & Seraphim Church, Idasa No. 1 Parish, Ilesa on Sunday.
The delegation arrived at the parish at 11:55 a.m. and received a warm welcome from the church’s youth and elders. The event commenced at 12:30 p.m. with an opening introduction by host member, Pastor D.M. Akande.
Delivering his goodwill message, the NYCN Osun State Chairman, Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun , introduced members of the visiting entourage and commended the church for its vibrant youth community. In his remarks, he encouraged the youth to stay away from drug abuse, remain God fearing, and practice contentment in their daily lives.
Comrade Akinbode emphasized the importance of purposeful engagement among youths aged 18–35, as recognized by the United Nations. He highlighted one of his administration’s notable achievements working towards the affiliation of C&S Idasa Parish("Onward Christian Soldiers") with the national youth council and some other organizations.
He further clarified that the NYCN is an inclusive body accommodating youths of all religious backgrounds, with both Muslims and Christians serving in its executive council. He reminded the congregation that the 2025 International Youth Day celebration had begun with a prayer session on Friday at Ahmadiyyah Central Mosque, Osogbo, reinforcing the council’s commitment to interfaith unity.
A significant highlight of the visit was the nomination of Omokehinde Adebowale, a member of the parish, as a beneficiary of this year's NYCN Youth Empowerment Scheme a gesture made with the full consent of the attending executive members.
The session concluded with a prayer by Elder Apostle E.O. Ponjolosu,and the delegation departed the parish at 12:58 p.m.
