Address by the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter,
Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun (OmoAkin),
At the Inauguration of NYCN Directorates Saturday, May 24th, 2025
All Established Protocols Duly Observed
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,
Fellow Comrades, Friends of the Council, Youth Stakeholders, Partners in Progress,
With a heart overflowing with gratitude and a spirit anchored in conviction, I welcome you to this significant milestone, the official inauguration of the Directorates of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter.
Today is not merely another entry in our calendar. It is a landmark, one that symbolizes bold intent, renewed energy, and a clear commitment to structure, service, and strategic youth engagement across Osun State. This is not the beginning of a dream; it is the materialization of a vision. The future is not something distant, it is unfolding ‘’now’’.
We are gathered here by the boundless mercy of Almighty God, and to Him alone be all the glory for how far we have come and the journey that lies ahead.
In a special way, we extend heartfelt appreciation to the Government of Osun State, under the progressive and youth-inclined leadership of His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke. Your Excellency, your administration’s openness, support, and commitment to youth development are visible, commendable, and inspiring.
We also acknowledge the Ministry of Youth Affairs for its constant collaboration, particularly the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Moshood Olalekan Olagunju, whose passion for inclusive youth engagement continues to strengthen our resolve.
We do not take this access and alignment for granted. It energizes us. It reminds us that we have a government that listens and a system that believes in the potential of its youth.
We equally celebrate our national and state stakeholders, past leaders, senior comrades, and respected elders who have laid the foundation for this great Council. Your sacrifices, counsel, and legacy of dedication remain the compass that guides our steps. You sowed the seeds, today we cultivate and nurture them.
I must also salute the unwavering resolve of our ‘’Executive Council Members of NYCN Osun State’’. My dependable team, I have seen your loyalty under pressure and your belief in service even when convenience begged otherwise. I value you all deeply.
For those who may not yet have aligned with our pace and direction, we do not cast blame. Rather, we extend open arms. We believe that with sustained purpose and genuine engagement, we will not only win minds, we will win hearts. This movement is not built on exclusion, but inclusion.
The Principal Officers of the Chairman’s Office, the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and all appointed aides your appointments are strategic and not ceremonial. You are the nerve centers of the Chairman’s daily engagement. You represent competence, confidence, and coordinated action. I charge you to lead with sense, with tact, and with unwavering loyalty to the ideals of our Council and the expectations of our teeming youth.
And our Directors, Deputy Directors, Secretaries, and all members of the various Directorates this is your moment. You are the foot soldiers and vision carriers of this administration. You are not filling positions; you are fulfilling a purpose. These Directorates are not political accessories, they are functional arms meant to execute, to impact, and to deliver.
Let us not be naive: politics will be played, and propaganda will fly. But truth will always stand when we walk and work in truth. Stay true to your oath, and no lie can stop your light.
Let the records reflect that today, we are building a Council where ‘’grassroots participation’’ is not a cliché but a command. In the days to come, every zone, every local government, every ward, and every community will have a seat at the table. This Council belongs to all youth no one is left behind.
We are not saints, but we are servants. We are not perfect, but we are purposeful. We are not here to shine brighter than others, but to light the path for all. And for those waiting to see if we will succeed, we welcome your curiosity, and we promise you results.
To everyone present, I leave you with a charge:
Seek ‘’progress before position’’.
Seek ‘’truth before titles’’.
Let the collective rise above the individual.
Remember: ‘’the joy is near, and the future is now.’’
In this Council, we will build platforms that listen to people’s pain, harvest their ideas, and connect them with opportunities. ‘’Leadership is not a hiding place it is a hearing place.’’ And as your Chairman, I remain open, not to noise, but to growth.
This inauguration is not our end, it is our engine.
Let us leave here not as spectators but as ‘’soldiers of service’’.
Let us write this chapter not with ink, but with ‘’impact’’.
Thank you, and may God bless you all.
Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun (OmoAkin)
Chairman, NYCN Osun State Chapter
