HISTORIC FIRST YOUTH LEADERS CULTURAL HANGOUT HELD AT NOVEMBER 27 GARDEN

Yesterday marked a historic moment as youth leaders, advocates, and change-makers from across Osun State and beyond gathered for the Youth Leaders Hangout, in commemoration of the birthday of Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun Omoakin, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter. Youth leaders and cultural enthusiasts gathered yesterday for a vibrant and impactful event held at the serene yet hidden November 27 Garden in Osogbo.
The hangout not only brought together youth leaders in a festive atmosphere but also led to the discovery of the November 27 Garden as a space full of untapped potential. Known to few before now, the venue proved ideal for recreation, relaxation, and cultural events. Its expansive layout and natural beauty make it suitable for conversion into a full-fledged recreation centre, sparking conversations around revitalizing local spaces for youth and community engagement.
Guests began arriving early, dressed in rich and colourful Yoruba traditional attire, proudly showcasing the elegance and heritage of the land. The visual display of dansiki, geles, Adire, and other traditional outfits added a touch of regal pride to the event, creating a deeply cultural and aesthetically powerful scene that celebrated identity and unity.
The entire event embraced Yoruba culture in every detail—from the rhythmic indigenous tunes to the sumptuous local dishes served purely indigenous delicacies, the menu was a true celebration of Yoruba culinary excellence. The music and ambiance fostered joyful interactions, Ewi, and an appreciation of cultural roots among the youth.

Comrade Akinbode, in his appreciation speech, noted that the day was not only a personal celebration but also a platform to strengthen youth unity, cultural pride, and grassroots development. “Today, we didn’t just celebrate a birthday; we revived a cultural consciousness and discovered a treasure in this garden. I believe this is just the beginning of many purposeful gatherings to come,” he stated. The event concluded with renewed calls for youth-driven community transformation and cultural revival in Osun State.
