Osun youth under the umbrella body of The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State chapter, led by Com. Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, is calling on security agencies to remain neutral in the upcoming local government elections tomorrow.
As youths eagerly prepare to exercise their right to vote, it's crucial that security agencies maintain peace and order. We've noted the Nigeria Police Force's advice to suspend the elections, citing security threats and legal complexities. However, we believe this decision requires careful consideration and consultation with all stakeholders.
We urge all security agencies, including the NPF, DSS, and Amotekun, to remain neutral and allow the democratic process to unfold without interference. The people of Osun State have the right to choose their leaders, and any attempt to subvert this process will be resisted.
We also call on OSSIEC to ensure the elections are free, fair, and credible. Osun youths are committed to peaceful and democratic means of resolving conflicts, and we won't tolerate any disruption to the electoral process.
Let's prioritize peace, democracy, and the rule of law. The people of Osun State deserve nothing less.
