The Camporee, which brought together members of the Scout Movement from across Osun State, and other state in south west such as Ogun, Oyo, Lagos and EKITI marked an important milestone in the development and expansion of Scouting activities in the state.
Speaking at the event, OmoAkin commended the leadership of the Osun State Scouts for its commitment to strengthening the organisation and promoting the values of discipline, leadership, teamwork, service and responsibility among young people.
He charged the Scout leadership to sustain the expansion of the movement across the state, particularly through the revitalisation of Scout Clubs in primary and secondary schools.
The NYCN Chairman expressed satisfaction that steps were already being taken to address some of the issues he had earlier raised, especially the need to expand Scouting activities across schools and make the organisation more accessible to young people.
“I am encouraged to know that work has commenced on some of the issues I previously raised and that the Scout leadership has renewed its commitment to expanding its reach across schools in Osun State. This is a welcome development,” he said.
OmoAkin reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Osun State Scout Movement, noting that youth development requires collaboration among organisations that share a commitment to preparing young people for leadership and responsible citizenship.
He described his honorary membership of the Scout Movement as both an honour and a responsibility, pledging to contribute meaningfully to efforts aimed at strengthening Scouting in Osun State.
“As one of the foundational members of NYCN Osun State, I am particularly pleased to be part of this movement and to strengthen the relationship between the Youth Council and the Scouts. I pledge my commitment and dedication to supporting the growth of Scouting across Osun State,” he stated.
He further encouraged the Scouts to intensify their presence in schools and create more opportunities for young people to participate in leadership, community service and character-building programmes.
The NYCN Osun State Chairman congratulated the leadership and members of the Scout Movement on the successful maiden Camporee, describing it as a significant step towards renewed growth and visibility for Scouting in the state.
