OSUN NYCN CHAIRMAN PARTICIPATES IN OSUN CLIMATE STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT, ADVOCATES FOR YOUTH INCLUSION IN CLIMATE FINANCING

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, led by its Chairman, Comrade Akinbode Olakolupo Oluwasegun, joined key dignitaries and stakeholders at two the AICIS 2025 Stakeholders Engagement Workshop on Climate Change Project Development and Financing, held in collaboration with the Osun State Government, Africa Business Ventures and Investment Group (ABVIG), and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The workshop, which had in attendance policymakers, technical experts, development partners, and private sector leaders, focused on unlocking innovative climate financing strategies to drive renewable energy adoption and sustainable development in Osun State and beyond.
The NYCN Chairman, accompanied by members of the state executive council, actively contributed to discussions on youth-led climate solutions and the need for institutional support for grassroots climate actions. During the plenary session, Comrade Akinbode seconded the motion for the official adoption of the communique arising from the workshop, which contains vital resolutions on collaborative action, investment mechanisms, and capacity development frameworks.
The Council affirms its commitment to driving youth engagement in climate governance, project development, and environmental stewardship across the state. We commend Professor Chinwe Obuaku Igwe, Global Consultant and Technical Team Lead to the Osun State Government on Climate Change and Renewable Energy, for her leadership and the inclusive approach demonstrated at the engagement.

As a council, we believe that sustainable development is impossible without the inclusion of the largest demographic — the youth. NYCN Osun State is ready to work with all relevant actors to ensure that no young person is left behind in the fight for climate justice and a livable future.
